A little bit about me....
I started riding while I was in high school and began with jump bikes and downhill bikes. The riding usually consisted of a lot of “playing around” by jumping and riding obstacles multiple times – this built up a number of great skills that later on transferred over to trail riding.
My career in the bike business started in 2006 as a junior mechanic where I gained a lot of knowledge and experience through testing bikes and products for New Zealand Mountainbike magazine. This satisfied my thirst for trying new bike models and different suspension designs. I worked my way up to Manager and Head Mechanic at the largest bike store in Wellington by 2014. I managed a group of around 3 to 4 mechanics and taught new skills whereever needed. During my time in Wellington I was approached with the opportunity to start coaching for NZ MTB Skills Clinics. I thoroughly enjoyed passing on my knowledge and helping others to progress in their riding. Having a great eye for detail on bike and suspension setup, helps me set up bikes so that people can feel more confident on the trail.
In 2018 I relocated to Brisbane, Australia with the initial plan being to have some time off when I first arrived. However, I was given the opportunity to Mechanic for the Funn Factory World Cup Downhill team for the 2018 season. I spent the next five months travelling around with the team keeping the downhill bikes and trailbikes running in top condition and managing the pits. It was a great experience and I would have gone back but 5 months is a long time away from my partner. While in Brisbane I assisted with the track cycling world championship. This entailed very quick bike assessments, fixing and changing set-ups. It was good to be involved in cycling in a different capacity.
In 2021 I relocated to Derby as I couldn’t deal with the Brisbane summer. Within six months I decided it was a great place for me to start a business and have a place to call home.
